  • This old thread (created by RR3 GhamO) is now filled with 410+ comments and lags too much in mobile devices. So I created this new thread

    • I wouldn't normally be looking forward to another version of a Porsche 911 where I already have four in that category but I can't wait for the Porsche 911 RSR (2017). Why? I've spent ages trying to set a decent time with the 2016 model at Suzuka in this weeks WTTT because of it's flighty back end.

I WANT A MID ENGINED PORSCHE 911 said no one ever in the last 50 years (actually, said everyone every year).

    • I saw at that page someone posted about a live leaderboard (race positions)

That would be good for the Le Mans farming races..

        Loading editor
    • Been asking for a pause-screen leaderboard and in-race gaps to previous/next cars for years, find it so frustrating when chasing down the lead car at Le Mans and have no idea where they are until I can see them, either this is too difficult for them to add (surely not?) or the other cars' positions is random!

        Loading editor
    • QuickNick you get next and previous cars in certain circumstances. Once you get within 150 meters of the next car it will show the distance when the car is over 150 meters ahead. It's an odd way to do it and I share your frustration at Le Mans. It wouldn't be that difficult to move them to a static position so they could be shown for larger tracks / larger gaps.

        Loading editor
    • Yes, always thought it odd that it finally tells you the gap to the next car when you've already caught up with it and can see it, kind of pointless by then! What I'd like, all configurable in settings so it can be turned off for smaller screen, is ... Race screen: permanent rear-view mirror, next/previous car gaps in seconds/distance, damage indicator. Pause-screen: leaderboard.

        Loading editor
    • i have thought about having a roster on the pause screen esp for endurance kings. you give them a 01:08 sec head start and its tough to know if your catching. i like to race le man cleanly and not knowing if im gaining make this difficult to do esp when corner cutting can gain around 600 yrds per lap.

other than this im not sure what i really want from this game anymore. im 4 cars from full garage. maybe some info on how much fame per lvl i need. i know this wont change how much i farm but would be useful just like the roster idea

    • If the gap to cars could be changed to time instead of distance, it would help. It would also get rid of those challenges where you can't let the car behind come with 20 mt (example). Time difference is fairly static, distance is not

    • Building on the last posts, I had already suggested white, yellow, green and purple sector (sector time; not accumulated lap time) and lap times, but I'd also add time gap to the leading car, the car in front and the car behind at the end of each sector.

Porsche 911 GT3. Ok, it's obviously a nice car and I wouldn't say "no" but why is everybody going on about it, how is it so different from every other (recent) 911 in the game? Surely there are already enough 911s in the game?

Gaps to previous/next cars. Yes, I hadn't thought of how useful it would be in challenges, good point.

Sector colours. Not sure what you mean. If that's information to also go on the leaderboard (F1 style) it woould be very useful but it sounds like it's getting rather cluttered! Maybe the ability to click on a car/player and then see more detail. But I think we're getting ahead of ourselves, as I already wrote, I've been asking for a leaderboard for 2 years! Don't hold your breath.

WTTT. I've already written this (more than once!) elsewhere on this wiki. I think the overall group A being the top 0.1% when every other (WT)TT has group A as the top 1% is wrong. I think group A should consistently be the top 1%. I think they should change the WTTT reward for group A to 200 Gold and add a podium (admittedly it would probably always be the same top 3 !) and award them 300, 400 and 500 Gold. OR add a group A+ with the top 0.1% and give them 300 Gold BUT either way group A should be the top 1%. Nuff said!

The idea is that on a race or TT your sector time and lap time would blink in a different color depending on whether it's worse than your best time in that race or TT, your own best in that race, or the best time overall in the race - so yes, like in F1 races.

I'm in Porsche forums as a P-owner and purists do not consider turbocharged 911 as real 911; anything that's not normally aspirated is meh to them. Well, too bad for them; what I'm sure of is that the 911 lineup has never been so fast as it is now. Times on the 'ring bear witness.

I've thought that this would be really useful many times and in the real world you measure gaps in time when racing but only at fixed points on the track.

For RR3 to show you time rather than distance they would need to be recording the time on track of every car at every point because the time would be:

      • Car in front - how long ago was it at the same point I am now on track
      • Car behind - how long ago was I at the same point they are now
        Loading editor
    • Sirebel. Gaps in distances or seconds. Real world they could only give you gaps (distance or time) when the second car passes a point the first car has already passed. But in RR3, unless it's random (which is what I wrote in my first post in this thread) then they would actually know the position of every car so could easily give you the distances ... admittedly, as you wrote, time would be more difficult because they would need to record every car's time and position so that (if positions change) they could then tell you yourr time position relative to their's ... but distance would be easy and require no recording as it would be a right-now situation. I'll happily take distances to the previous/next car AND as RR3 Master Racer pointed out, it would be so helpful in those challenges where you have to be (no more than) a set distance in front of somebody else. They (the Monkeys) said that they trawl the forums ... HELLO MONKEYS ... feature request right here, please add distance to previous/next car permanently on-screen during race, thank you.

    • Please God, no more Porsches. Too many already. Indycars and F1 please. More tracks, not more cars

    • They already have sector times blinking. I am no code expert, but how hard can it be?

        Loading editor
    • I don't think anymore F1 is coming as Code masters have got the F1 licence for mobile platforms as well. Their app that they call a game is the official one.

Indycars would be fun. I like racing cars of series which I never follow.

This is to any FM person who might see this post - we do not need more cars , or even tracks. We need more series to race the existing cars on which we have spent our gold

        Loading editor
    • I hope we dont have to wait a long time for time for another track, look how long it took them to do Hong Kong

        Loading editor
    • The adding of more tracks (and cars) has got to take into account the ever increasing size of the gzme ... they need to be able to load/unload cars and tracks if space is an issue e.g. when was the last time you drove some of the basic cars? But I'm sure that modellimg/mapping a track is a huge task .. and, unlike new cars, it doesn't add (directly) to their potential revenue stream.

        Loading editor
    • It's a pity there isn't a facility to remove and cloud save completed sections. Amateur, Semi Pro, Pro etc. This would save space on devices for series that aren't being used.

        Loading editor
    • I doubt those take much space. A race definition is probably <100 fields in a database table. The car definitions are probably middling size. It's the tracks that take up space. But we all want more of those. And some of us have old hardware that is having some trouble keeping up.

        Loading editor
    • There are two things to think about in terms of size, storage and memory.

Storage: RR3 takes up around 3GB of storage on my android device. This is more or less split evenly between tracks and cars (18 tracks, 179 cars). So a track is roughly 10 times the size of a car in terms of storage.

Memory: A race only needs one track and a few cars loaded into memory for each race so the number of tracks and cars overall is irrelevant. Most of the memory footprint is in terms of texture maps (skins) so the larger / more detailed the images, the more memory is required.

Adding more tracks and cars shouldn't be an issue. Creating more detailed cars, larger tracks or higher definition backgrounds might be.

        Loading editor
    • Just had this idea from a teammate, it would be good if they add a dark version to the game, like light colours on menu could be dark. Also if we could see who is driving what car, not the nameplates of the drivers immediately in front and behind us

        Loading editor
    • FM should give us the option to disable all this variable time of day nonsense. By far the worst feature of the game.

        Loading editor
    • FM should gradually add-

      1. Hypercars like the Zenvo ST1, W Motors Lykan Hypersport, Bugatti Chiron, Koenigsegg One:1, Lamborghini Aventador S and Huracan Performante.

      2. Supercars like the new Audi R8 and TT RS, the new Nissan GT-R and GT-R NISMO, Lamborghini Diablo, Ferrari F430 and 360, SRT Viper GT3-R, Mercedes-AMG GTS and GTR

      3. Fiat Abarth Punto and 595 Competizione, 1967 Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang, Audi RS3, RS5 and RS7.

      4. Circuits like the Monaco Circuit, Buddh International, Brands Hatch GP (a light version), Yas Marina, Nordschleife (a light version, again).

      5. Vinyl Wraps, Options for Pearlescent Shades with Metallic Paint, Reduction of game size (if possible), Improved Car Damage, More Rims, Better Gold Earnings (1 for level 1 to 10, 4 for 11 to 20, ..., 36 for level 51 to 60, and similarly, the square of the decade at which we are).

That's all for now. Will come back with more.

One more thing related to Ferrari: they screwed the physics of F1 car. Nowadays if tires meet from different cars, they go throgh each other as if there were nothinv. Very awful change for the top cars of the game.

    • Fix for people who use hacking tools to change the stats of their cars to cheat. I've seen the videos where a tool is used to change the in memory stats of a car you are about to race so that it has crazy fast speed and acceration and grip, etc.

The software should grab the loaded cars stats the moment be car is loaded into memory (before user interface is even updated) and store. At times during the race, and at the end, the values in memory should be compared to those stored... if there is ANY change whatsoever, immediately permanently ban that player. If in a team, give that team a "Black Mark", after 3 Black Marks disband the team and suspend each member for 30 days.

    • More scope for tuning. For example, changing the front/rear split for 4-wheel-drive cars to change the driving dynamics. Final drive gear ratio tuning and aero tuning would also be nice.

Better collision handling. Right now, every car might as well be a Ford Pinto because if you get hit at the side of the rear bumper, you've lost. There seems to be this golden zone where ramming a car from behind is guaranteed to spin them out spectacularly. In almost every 22-car cup, there's a couple of unfortunate cars that randomly get ejected from the pack (often into the tyre barriers) in the first 30 seconds.

Better handling models. RIght now, most cars are either super forgiving (like the 918 and 919) or super lairy (like the 458, LFA and Enzo).

Gaps to cars shown correctly. Quite often you can't see the distance. Also, an option for time gap would be nice. I'm aware that this would require being able to see into the future, so perhaps a better way to do it would be to divide the distance by the average of the speeds of the two cars concerned (your car and the one ahead or behind you). Or just show the split time gaps at various sectors on the track.

Correct car layouts. There are at least a few cars with the wrong layout shown (for example showing RR for a mid-engined car).

What I'm trying to say is that there's no point adding more cars and series if there are some fundamental flaws in the game.

    • This may sound crazy,,, but I want a 30 lap lemans! But here's how I want it. 1. Open the pit!!! And give us a racing crew! Make wrecks fixable but costly with time spent to them swap out, tire deterioration a must. Give us a race manager that tells us when we need to swap parts, refuel or tire change. 2. Player uses 3 different drivers, ten laps then you change , each with their own driving strengths, such as one could be an ace at cornering, the other is a master overtaking s.o.b. Whatever. 3. Can we get a "one time" ten second rewind feature? (Yes, I know what you're thinking, the balls on me for asking such a idiotic request. But admit it, how many times have you come close to 44 miles in NASCAR 19.1 endurance but hit the wall instead?) 4. Hey fox monkey, That floating blimp,,, sweet! But you can do way way much more. Give life to the cardboard cut outs you filled the stands with. I want to stop, turn towards the stands and have a fan cheer for me or throw his drink my way. 5. Rain! Make it rain, well,,, rain! 6. Vengeful opponents. Cut him off a lap ago? No worries, he'll get you next lap so watch out!

And finally,,, vintage era racing! Or decade racing. I want Master the 40's then the 50's. Now I'm done

    • I've been asking (I posted on EA's Answers RR3 board 18+ months ago in the hope they'd read their official board) for an F1-style pause-screen leaderboard with positions and time/distance gaps. I'm sure this is something 99% of players would really like to have in the game and (unless the other drivers' positions are totally random?) surely something which they could instigate pretty easily ... on the back of that (and also mentioned in the same post) I would like to have permanent in-race on-screen gaps to the previous/next player. If their objecion/exusse is screen-space on smaller-screened devices then make it a settings option.

Weather effects (e.g. rain) would be cool ... I honestly thought this was something they were working on and inadvertently slipped out when there was that fiasco with the controls a few months ago, I thought they'd let slip a test version with changes to the grip etc ... surely this (e.g. rain) is something they could easily add by just fiddling with the car (acceleration, braking, grip) parameters?

More tracks. It's been written many times, we don't want more cars, we want more tracks. Unfortunately more tracks (on their own) won't generate revenue but they will seriously bloat the game SO I don't think that's going to happen any time soon.

I think the next release will probably be a Le Mans update, maybe some new/updated LMP1 cars  e.g. the new Toyota TS050.

    • Timing boards aren't as easy as you think but a distance board should be easy. I'd like a timing board to though. If you want a laugh though, find a TT that you ran at Mount Panorama before they moved the start / finish line. It's really confusing and gives some insight into how FM measure time over the track.

        Loading editor
    • Timing boards, difficulty of implementing. Accepted, giving a constant time-gap might be difficult but they could definitely give us a time-gap at the 3 lap-splits, and if you think about it they could give us a time-gap for every car in front of us and behind us based on how long ago the car-ahead went past the point where the car-behind now is SO relative to us it could be ...

      - Cars ahead: How many seconds since they passed the point where we now are.

      - Cars behind: How many seconds since we passed the point whey they now are.

Surely that shouldn't be that difficult to implement? And surely that is exactly how they do it in real races? Admittedly it would require a bit of extra memory to store the times for every car, but even if you stored the times once every quarter-second and allowed for 44 cars and a 5-minute memory (to cover Le Mans) that shouldn't require more than about 100Kb of memory.

Mount Panorama. I'll try and find an old TT event that I haven't recently re-raced. Did the start/finish line move occur before/after they reset all TT times?

        Loading editor
    • I don't know, just watched that video and it looks like you improve by braking later but then lose because you (braked too late and) lose traction out of the corner OR don't carry enough corner speed, I don't see any relevance to the start/finish line moving ... I was expecting the gap at the end to suddely jump by a second! Maybe I'm missing something?

        Loading editor
    • And the problem with having a go myself is I've most likely (fully) upgraded the car since my last run (and maybe got better) so a direct comparison won't be possible. But I'll still have a play and see what I see.

    • The other car isn't me, it starts 100 yrds in front of me. Watch the difference clock, it jumps about all over the place. I think that's as I pass different timing points.

3 new cars - The new Porsche GT3 RS, 488 GTB, Ford GT. Put them all together in the same series, and throw Huracan and 675LT into it as well. All of these cars should be at around PR70 max, there would be no mismatch here, so the race should be fun.

And please for the love of God, stop putting one car in a series with 22 tiers in it. It is not fun. It's boring as hell. (Yes Exclusive series, this includes you too)

    • Honestly, apart from the F1-style cars, can amybody really tell the difference between a lot of the cars? Enough with the new cars. I bet 90% of the players would much prefer a new track or two. But new tracks (on their own) don't generate Gold-purchasing revenue, they must take a lot of work to create and they add to the game-size so I don't think it will happen. Most likely the next update will be a Le Mans tie-in update with some new LMP1 and/or LMGTEPRO cars.

I agree with the cars this update; it was good and its the first update where I have bothered with them all.

I find most of the slow cars drive the same, just slower :)  There are some that stand out, like the old skyline, but generally speaking, if the view didn't show any part of the car, I don't think I could tell which I was in.

As for the next update, I'm sure it will be Le Mans but I am certainly Le Mans'ed out.  Presumably the '17 RSR will be on offer.  Maybe it would be cool if they did a 'generations/beast' type event with that and the original mid-engine 911.  That might be fun, but I fear we will get a rehash of the same LMP1s or GTEs with endless laps around LM.

This was one of many requests I made 18+ months ago on the EA Answers (website which I thought was official) but I never got a response (from EA or FM). On my iPad the ghosts are too solid, so much so that I find myself (unintentionally/subconsciously) avoiding them! I would really like it if you could turn them off OR have the option to set the transparency from 0% (i.e. off) to 100%.

        Loading editor
    • I do the same avoidance moves, I have to move across the track off the racing line to be able to see because the ghost is in the way blocking my view of the corner, an adjustable option to set it at a % of visibility would be great (maybe the easiest way FM could impliment it)

If it were me I would set up Hillclimb as a new event type (like the NASCAR event type), that would essentially be a long autocross event. The Nurburgring Norshleife (21 km racetrack opposite the Nurburgring GP circuit), Fuji Speedway and Côte de Azure (Monte Carlo F1 GP street circuit) are three racetracks which is a must to be in such a realistic simulation game.

Also there should be weather effects like fog and rain, rather than only clear sky.

And as a side note: Please Do Not Add More Porsche 911s (other Porsches like 928GT and 944 Turbo are much better than wayward handling 911s). No more 911s, more JDMs and DTM race cars and other types of Porsches that were mentioned above. Also I repeat please add more Nissans, Toyotas and TVRs as well. Subaru and Mitsubishi are others I could recommend as well, like Evo and WRX STi. This the best driving simulator on mobile but there are far toooo many VW's brands of cars, that is the reason for this very big review rather than short one I hope you EA/FM developers read this detailed review. Also it doesn't matter if the game gets bigger in size.

Us car enthusiasts use android tablets and ipads to play the game so size is not an issue. Those who use phones only make the multiplayer racing experience worse as it takes an awful lot of time for a multiplayer race to start, sometimes taking over a minute because of those players using phones rather than tablets. And it's there is no problem with battery drainage as for me the game uses much much less power than Youtube app.

This was a review I wrote in Play Store and I hope FM gives these things in the game.

Totally agree - I just don't get why so many people think "drifting" on sealed road surfaces is a good idea. It is slow, wears tyres out faster, and generates a bad smell! I believe "drifting" originated in the rally world, and was originally known as the "Scandinavian Technique" (due to the Scandinavian drivers introducing the technique).

Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying it doesn't take skill, or that it is not fun - but on road surfaces there is absolutely nothing fast about it. Rally surfaces are different, 'cos they're often loose!

A better way for servicing cars. Here's my thoughts on a better way to have a service plan. When you click on MY GARAGE after the words MY GARAGE there is a magnifying glass button. Next to that button could be a button named SHOP. In there your cars would be listed alphabetically buy manufacturer. Like the CARS pages on this site. It would be a thumb nail pic of the car followed by the damage bar in color and then a repair button. That way all we would have to do is look at one page and instantly see the status of all our cars then we could just scroll down and hit the ones we want to repair. Or you could just hit the tap to continue at the bottom of the page as we do now to see the stats, upgrades, etc.

My biggest wish would be that they put an option when your done running a race and the service page pops up. It should have two buttons one saying service now. Like it is now. The second button would say SHOP here your cars would go in order picked to get serviced. This option would only work on two service mechanics, always leaving a spot open for the I need it serviced now job. lets say you start off running your three farming runs first thing. the first to go into instant repair. The third one you hit shop it will be next in line for service. that leave a spot open for you to use in you challenge or career races. you could then run as many cars as you want and stage them for repair. that in combination with the first wish would solve a lot of problems and time.

No autocross, elimination, endurance and stuff like that, just 20-25 lap cups. Maybe they could use time trials as a qualifying to determine your start position. They could also add a sponsor system like in NASCAR, but make it actually gold positive this time (For example, if we have to spend 5000 GC to upgrade all F1 cars, then let the reward be 5500 GC, so we can at least earn 500. Not every car players own is visible in the garage, I have at least 3 on my TSM list who own all cars but in the garage there's 3 or 4 missing, you shouldn't be too quick in pointing the cheating finger

    • RR3G'hamO is spot on... I was checking out RaduTan's garage the other day, and it showed that all 3 Formula e cars were missing. Does anyone really think RaduTan doesn't own these? Especially since they were all given away for free recently.

Don't trust the garage view for other players is the lesson... it is full of errors!

    • When is the new update coming out?

        Loading editor
    • today, may 29, around 8pm UTC.

I'm afraid the update is gonna be poor on WEC cars, since there is no new major model except the Toyota. We're gonna get Flashback events again i suppose, no new tracks (since it may restrict the game to high end devices).

      For cars, i'd like:

-Any of the two W motors, or both :D

      -Ferrari 812 Superfast

-Some classic Group C and Le Mans stars, with the 787B, the R90/92, and mainly the Peugeot 905.

-Some WTCC/BTCC/DTM cars, dropping like the Mercedes 190e 2.5 Evo 2, Volvo 850, BMW M3 E30, Alfa Romeo 155, and why not the Opel Calibra (ok daydreaming ended)

    • How about

We have an update free month

Let us get some tidying up done of all the unfinished series that are dotted about

      Discuss!!

    • Nah, unless I still get flashbacks :-) I love these!

An update without new cars and/or circuits I would not mind, if they gave us a fixed OMP, timers to front and rear cars and a few such improvements.
