Prange?? report:
Ok,just finished Stage 1. Very straighforward. Easily completed with the base car. Very easy to go too fast on the Autocross. I slowed down at the finish and wound up 2nd. You don't have to win, just finish.

You get that winning mindset,ya know?

I also forgot to service, will have to do that tomorrow. Or maybe not. I think I'll start tomorrow unserviced and slow the bots down. I did start all the R$ upgrades right away-(12 hour completion time).

Car handles great, sort of like my trashed 919 that I use for farming. It should be superb when upgraded.

I love the sound,too.

Using Tilt A,BA Low,T/C off.

4.1 I decided to use a wall ride in this one. It may not be required but it's always fun. It's not the easiest thing to do without failing. If you try it you may have to give it a several attmpts. The trick is to ease into the wall at speed, I never lift off the throttle. Tilt B, no assists, sensitivity 4, upgrades 1112121.

Real_Racing_3,_Path_of_Defiance,_Stage_4.2

Real Racing 3, Path of Defiance, Stage 4.2

4.2 No tricks here. You have to realize where actual off track is on the back straight. I'm full throttle around the entrance of the chicane. Through the chicane you can drive right over the blue pylon. After the chicane you can go very far over to the right without being off track. I stayed in the throttle until the indicator showed that I had reached top speed. I was careful everywhere else on the track. Tilt B, no assists, sensitivity 4, upgrades 1112121.

4.3 is as easy as it gets. Run all three races and lose all of them. Drive off track as much as you want to. I finished in last place in all three races. My off track clock was maxed in each one. Upon finishing the last race I got the green passed Banner. No problem.

Real_Racing_3,_Path_of_Defiance,_Stage_4.4_Magnus_got_fast!

Real Racing 3, Path of Defiance, Stage 4.4 Magnus got fast!

4.4 Magnus is a lot faster in this race. I know it says no contact but I've learned you can get away with things. I found I could stay full throttle through the first chicane and get right on Magnus, then gently shove him off track. You can also pass Magnus while going off track just a bit at the same chicane I talked about in the video for stage 4.2. Tilt B, no assists, sensitivity 4, upgrades 1112121.

Keys to events day 4, read the captions! I did not copy them down. Only 1 event needs to be won, all the others are just finish the events with less than 1.0 seconds off track and no collisions. As ME7 says below you can touch, just don't smash! I am upgraded with R$ upgrades only 1112121 through this whole day.

4.1 Dynamic circuit time trial in under 52 seconds. Took me 2 tries. Ran this with TC on, BA and SA low, Tilt B. First try was 52.02 so it is spot on for 52.00 or under.

4.2 Short circuit. Must win this one and hit 148 mph 3 times less than 1.0 seconds off track. Key to this one is TC and BA off, I did SA low still and Tilt B. The spot I hit 148 mph is the back straight with slight braking before the chicane through the barricades, shoot the gap and starting to round the wide curve before the bus stop. This car is solid without traction control and I actually hit about 153 mph before braking each lap with no offt track at all. I am sorry I did not shoot a video to post.

4.3 Same as ME7, finish all three races in last place then put the Porsche into servicing as you will be running this same car later in this update to win it. Ran this with TC on, BA and SA low, Tilt B.

4.4 Head to head Long circuit. Just finish without off track or collision. I finished in second place, I actually gave Magnus a 1,000 yard head start and at finish line I was only 500 yards behind but got green banner. Ran this with TC on, BA and SA low, Tilt B.

Did not need to service after today's event. Still in the green by 5 bars with having to run 4.1 twice. Easy event today. Award was 10 GC, do not remember if there was also an R$ completion award. Did not think I would be one of the first posting this which is why I have given so much information here.

Cheers and good luck!

I had problems, it took 12 attempts! See report below. I had to push Ahmed out of the corners, not pushing going in or he would skid. I also had to allow a gap before the last turn, by braking earlier for the chicane, then get a good exit, Ahmed is slow out, but fast down the straight, very hard to get right. Especially with no overtake. the goal is an average counter, not top speed.

Also try switching to imperial, some events have a bug in metric. (Settings > Display > Display speed MPH|KPH)

HV2308 wrote:

I found Ahmed's times tend to vary, but couldn't figure out what caused this. It almost seemed that the faster you go, the faster he goes.

Passed with PR 83.3, manual controls, no assists. You really have to be on Ahmed's tail all the way to the finish. The crucial part is the busstop chicane on before the final straight. Ahmed pulls away on the straight before (coming from the infield). Close up by braking late and accelarating very early (from halfway the busstop latest). I almost pulled up along side him but without having to lift. He then slightly pulled away again but not too much and I reached the goals.

If you have too much speed you either pass him or have to lift - either causes a fail. Drop back 10 or 20 yards further before the busstop.

5.1 It's amazing how late you can brake on the first corner. After that, I chose to break a little bit early and get back in the throttle quicker. This is important on that last corner before you hit the Daytona Speedway section. Ahmed is faster and can get away from you. Tilt B, no assists, sensitivity 4, upgrades 1112121.

5.2 This one's hard, I had to upgrade to 1132321. It took me many tries to get the run you see. I really thought I blew it when I got loose starting my big speed run, but I still hit it. I couldn't find any way to hit top speed without having to hit the wall after the start-finish line. I swoop down off the big corner and also at the start finish to get a downhill run.

Real_Racing_3,_Path_of_Defiance,_Stage_5.4

Real Racing 3, Path of Defiance, Stage 5.4

5.4 I decided to try this one slightly unserviced. I didn't think it was going to be as hard as 5.2. Not enough time for me to fit in 6 seconds of skids, so I had to hunt down first place and take him out. Then I could finish in last place and still pass the stage. I decided to cause a little bit of chaos at the end. Tilt B, no assists, upgrades 1132321.

Just a small detail: for 6.4 it can be done EASILY (really, not kidding) by braking after hitting the target speed simply by scraping the wall on the right. You don't have to slam into it and lose control, like I saw in one of the videos, just scrape it nicely and it will slow you down perfectly to take the upcoming corner easily. I also tried the "slamming into Zoe" trick to slow down, my problem was that it either didn't slow me down enough or I lost control and went off-track. However, the scraping method made this race a breeze. BTW, upgrades 3132321.

6.1 You just need to complete any lap and less than 34 seconds, you don't have to win so I made sure to finish in last place. I spent the first lap letting the pack get a little ahead of me. It's not possible to do the first lap in 34 seconds because you've got that starting section eating up your time. Be up to speed when you cross the start-finish line for lap 2 and run that one hard. I didn't run super clean and it was no trouble. Tilt B, no assists, sensitivity 4, upgrades 1132321.

Real Racing 3, Path of Defiance, Stage 6.4 1132321 VERY HARD!!!

6.4 done with 1132321. VERY HARD!!!

1st off HUGE THANKS to  "Small Wooden Pig" for taking the pic while doing the wall grind. Another HUGE THANKS to "Intense2169" for posting the pic. This was beyond hard but I got obsessed with doing it. You need to take the widest route around the track, which goes against what racers usually do. I also found it necessary to brake late at the one corner and pitch my back end into the wall to get an extra 2 kph average. I met the top speed requirement many times but kept missing the average speed requirement. That wall grind eats up a lot of speed. To do the wall grind you have to first nail the brakes and steer hard right into the wall. Then at the right time you need to release the brakes and do nothing for a little bit until the car is approaching the corner. At that point you steer hard left and get back into the gas carefully. It was a wild card every time I did it. That's why I had to make sure that my average speed was as high as possible. Tilt B, no assists, sensitivity 4, 1132321.

Sorry that there's no audio, I stopped and started things so much that there was obviously a glitch.

Real Racing 3, Path of Defiance, Stage 7.4

7.4 To do this with low upgrades you need to get in the lead fast and then control the pack. The inside cut on corner one is critical. I opted not to do any wall rides because they waste fuel. You also have to avoid taking on damage to make the most of your fuel. To wreck someone without taking on damage, you release the throttle right as you're spinning them. And of course, you have to save a tiny bit of fuel for the end. Tilt B, no assists, sensitivity 4, upgrades 1132321.

Stop the bots from setting the fastest lap by wrecking them and blocking them. You don't have to win this race, so I came in last place for bot management. HV2308 Report Stage 7 (PR83.3 19/27 3332323, I'm level 255, WTTT bottom of D, manual controls & no assists)

Bathhurst in general:

-at the start I go round the outside in turn 1. Don't go too fast (lift and coast your way around the outside of the pack). Early accelaration out of the corner is key. Start accelarating when you're about halfway through, use the curbstones with two wheels if necessary

-at turn 2, after the first long straight, you can pass on the inside but also power your way around the outside if necessary (if the opponent is blocking the inside line)

-you can still make up a lot of lost ground in the last few corners. Cut across the inside of both corners after the long downhill straight, and brake very very late in the last turn, slide into the side of the car turning in in front of you. Early accelaration is key after all the corners.

7.1 Maintain position so don't overtake or get overtaken. Just stick as close to Ahmed (or whoever) in front of you as you can. Try to keep the car behind right behind you, centre screen, not to the left or right side of you where he can slip past more easily. Although Michael was only 5-20 yds back most of the time, he wasn't too much of a nuisance. Can't use the mechanic here as you won't finish 1st, but it's only one lap.

7.2 2 laps, average 135 mph. Get to the front and in the clear as soon as you can. Dogfights with opponents will only slow you down. Not too difficult to hit 135 avg, you need a margin of about 2 miles as you will be slower in the last section of the course.

7.3 Finish 3rd or 4th in the Porsche. If 4th is enough do no more, you never know how it will effect botmanagement. You start around 10th, caught 4th & 5th when we started going up the hill. Serviced the car afterwards, won't be needing it in this event anymore, and that way it will be fully serviced whent I next get to drive it.

7.4 reach 184 mph 3 times in 2 laps. Used the mechanic.

3 places to reach 184: end of the first straight, on the hill just before you head downwards into the chicane, and on the long downhill back straight.

Fuel consumption not too difficult, although it was close.

Only was to manage fuel is from the front, you make sure you get to 1st as soon as possible. Good early accelaration out of turn 1 and you should be top 3 or therabouts when you go up the hill. When you're in first, lift and coast, block, weave etc. and accelarate when attacked.

From the top of the hill on lap 2 there was a whole bunch of cars challenging for the lead, so it was pretty much a sprint for the line from there - not too much chance of fuelsaving there. 1.5 litres should be enough to get you to the finish form the top of the back straight.

7.5. Set the fastest lap (don't have to win). Get into the lead as quickly as possible (wasn't too difficult), complete lap 1 in 1st will give you the fastest lap. and then just be a total nuisance to the cars behind, so they can't better the time. Still being in the lead in lap 2 will give you fastest lap there too but in my case it was slower than lap 1. When I was sure the lap 1 time was out of reach I let the pack pass on lap 3 (top of the hill).

8.1 This was very challenging with low upgrades (1132321). I finished with the absolute fuel minimum of 0.01 and Michael right on my bumper. You get 8.33 units of fuel per lap & only 2 seconds off-track. I used some off-track at the start to get in the lead, saved the rest in case I had to cut the last chicane. I very quickly found that Ahmed was too fast. I had to pit him without taking damage. I find with this car that the braking point is usually the 2nd distance marker you encounter at each corner (@ Le Mans). Except for one where it's the 3rd distance marker you encounter. What I chose to do was lift off the throttle at the first distance marker and coast, then brake shortly after the 2nd distance marker. I also chose to coast rather than brake through the series of turns after the last long straight. Tilt B, no assists, sensitivity 4, upgrades 1132321.

Real_Racing_3,_Path_of_Defiance,_Stage_8.3

8.3 Hitting the top speed requirement is tricky with low upgrades. You have to start the full throttle run very early and plan to somewhat hit the wall. I thought I had lots of time to finish my lap so I was taking it easy. I ended up having to push it hard right at the very end. Although this says no off-track, there is obviously at least 1 second of off-track allowed, because I did not fail. Tilt B, no assists, sensitivity 4, upgrades 1132321.

I was doing fine but less grip threw me off on the one corner. Oh well, got the car with 1132321 upgrades. Tilt B, no assists, sensitivity 4.

Device: NOX PC Emulator for Android (my 2nd device)

Pre-challenge: R$30,829,424 — 1,473 Curr.Gold.New.80x80.Shifted — 177/187 Cars — Level 252

Car: Mazda 787B PR83.3 19/27 3332323 vs recommended PR85.4 (-2.1) today

Controls: Buttons, Steering high, Brakes low and TC off, Steering Sensitivity 1. Online

  • 8.1 3 lap Cup @ Le Mans - Win without running out of fuel or going off-track for more than 2 seconds (25 units of fuel)
1-9+) Tried with wheel B, various off track, normally due to a bot trangle, or braking too late.
10+) 1st 9:56.475 v 9:57.554 Ahmed, (Fasted lap 3:17.177 v 3:17.488), finally managed using mouse control (Wheel B), Ahmed just seemed to give up, and run allot slower, I lost track of how many times I tried, I kept tangling with the bots, they would PIT me, generally they were faster down the straights (full engine upgrade no doubt), then all of a sudden I managed to take the lead and the bots left me alone, cross the line with 1.5 units of fuel remaining, wheel B, BA low, lifting before the braking point, then letting the car coast around the turns, before going back on the power, used all bars of damage, serviced.
  • 8.2 2 lap Cup @ Le Mans - Finish 2 laps in at least 3rd place max 5 sec off-track (RS)
1)1st 6:51.144 v 6:51.561 I managed to pass for 1st on the Mulsanne Straight on lap 2, so PIT the bot, managed to slow them down, by parking in Amage, the bots managed to pass, so I launched it though the final chicane to take the lead once more, used all bar of damage, serviced again! Will try the next goal in 3 hours.
  • 8.3 1 lap Cup @ Le Mans - Reach 223 mph (359 kph) and place at least 3rd within 3:20 without going off-track (RS)
1) 1st 3:16.652 v 3:17.494 Ahmed, passed Michael in the first chicane, chased down Ahmed, I didn’t want to risk being too slow, in the end I had 3 seconds to play with. Michael finished in 3:19, so I could have finished 3rd, time, used 13 bar of damage, 11 green remaining.
  • 8.4 2 lap Cup @ Le Mans - Tailgate [Michael] within 24 yards (22 metres) for 60 seconds, then lead for 90 seconds uninterrupted, and win (RS)
1) 1st 6:35.871 v 6:36.618, Ahmed. I starting 4th, so tailgated 3rd (Michael) for 60 seconds (not uninterrupted). Then passed him and chased down first place, off track was OK, so I straight lined the final chicane and passed Ahmed the beginning of lap 1 and was fine to maintain the lead for the entire lap, used all bar of damage, 0 remaining. Serviced, will wait another 3 hours!
  • 8.5 1 lap Cup @ Le Mans - Win one of these events without going off-track for more than 1 second OR come at least 3rd in all three events (RS)
1)1st 3:21.937 v 3:23.788 Zoé, managed to pick off the bots, reached 1st going into Indianapolis, maintained the lead, finished with 0.3 off track, will within 1 sec, used 12 bar of damage, serviced

Reward 30 Curr.Gold.New.80x80.Shifted Post-challenge: R$30,955,676 — 1,513 Curr.Gold.New.80x80.Shifted — 178/187 Cars — Level 252

HV2308
(PR83.3 19/27 3332323, I'm level 255, WTTT bottom of D, manual controls & no assists)

8.3 With PR 83.3 reaching 223 mph is not too much of a problem, but don't relax to much after that. You have to get a move on to make the 3m20s laptime.

Early accelaration onto the first long straight is key. Keep to the outside before Tertre Rouge / first long straight, accelarate before turning into the corner (cut across the inside curb, the speed will cause you to drift out onto the left curb but as long as you keep 2 wheels on track you will keep your speed up). Keep your eye on the speedo and hit the brakes as soon as the dial hits 222-223 mph.

Upgrades 3132321. Couple notes:

8.1 To make your life just a bit easier you can pit Michael right after the start. Wait a bit to gather enough speed and as he is about to exit "pitting range" slam into him. Also, try to keep the pitting to the Mulsane straight or the start/finish straight, these are the two sections where it's safe to do this. So time the thing by managing your distance and letting yourself get caught/overtaken just before these sections.

8.4 I found it easier to immediately overtake cars 2 and 3 and tailgate Ahmed who is in 1st place. If I stuck behind Michael for the tailgating part then Ahmed would take a huge lead.

Start / End Strategy

The player has 8 days to complete the 8 stages, the event is 8 days x 24 hours. The first stage will start the time the player starts it, the last stage will end 8 x 24 hours later. As stage 01 is normally straight forward and can be completed without an upgrade or service, it can be started late in the day, it doesn't matter if stage 01 isn't completed the first day, it can continued the following day. Stage 02, will automatically unlock at midnight, but can only be raced once stage 01 is complete. Stage 03 will unlock at midnight the following day, and so on up to stage 8. In total there will be 8 x 24 hours = 192 hours to complete all stages.

For example:

Start Saturday @ 10:00 PM the event will end 8 days x 24 hours later, next Sunday @ 10:00 AM,

You need to choose the best time for you to start Path of Defiance event, or more importantly when is the best time for you to end the event!

RR3 Michael P wrote (pre-race tip):
I wouldn't recommend starting the event on the first day, Sunday June 11th, as many racers, who start as soon as the event opens, complain about bugs, which FM then fix! Instead leave the start a day or two and let other people do the bug testing. Also the tips and details can be filled in by the early adopters, so starting a day or two later gives a better heads up.

Ideally, for racers who are busy Monday to Friday and have the weekend free, the best day and time to start is as late as possible Saturday June 17th (unless last entry is Friday June 16th), as long as it's before midnight, meaning stage 8 of the event can be completed over two days, the following Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately there maybe a short time to start this event! It maybe only open for 1 week, as the next event is expected Sunday June 25th. Keep an eye out for adverts to start the event and watch for a countdown to start. Once started the event can be run, even if it's closed to new racers.

FAQ

How can I service the car when I already finished the day?

If the final car service is missed, after the final event on the day, the soonest it can service is at midnight (local time), when the next stage opens.

When is the last time I can start this Event?

The exact date is unknown, normally 1 week. Maybe June 18th or 18th. The next event is expected to start Sunday June 25th.

The way FM display the date isn't very clear, they use a rounding factor. The days and hours remaining, to start, is changing at mid day or on the half hour. The closing date and time displayed is a cautious closing date and time. Keep an eye out for adverts to start the event and watch for a countdown to start. Once started the event can be run, even if it's closed to new racers.

Will this event be added to the race career?

FM went though a spell of adding special events to the racing career, the last time a special event was added was September 2015 v3.6, NASCAR Academy was added directly to the NASCAR career, without previously being released as a Time Limited Event (TLE). Previous to that was April 2015 v3.3, with Redline: Origins and MotorFiesta 1. It is therefore unlikely this event will be added to the racing career.

Will the car be available to win in the future?

The Mazda 787B is available to win if the challenge is completed in 8 days, after ##-### the Mazda 787B can be purchased.

Can I buy the car?

The Mazda 787B is available in two series:

This vehicle was added in the Le Mans 2017 Update (v5.3.0) released in May 2017 and is unlocked as soon as Group C: Championship is unlocked.

This vehicle can be acquired for 800 Curr.Gold.New.80x80.Shifted or 640 Curr.Gold.New.80x80.Shifted with showcase discount.

What is the minimum PR / upgrades required

RR3 Michael P wrote (pre-race):
Since Generations, if the players car is far below the recommended PR level the bots run impossible times. Once the car is upgraded the bots return to normal times. Slowing the bots works, only when the PR requirements are close. Some goals have fixed top bots. Possible upgrade strategies:

No. Description Upgrade R$ Curr.Gold.New.80x80.Shifted
1 Upgrade the car with R$ and pay (30/40/50 Curr.Gold.New.80x80.Shifted) to skip impossible goals PR75.6

856,400 ~0-300+
2 Upgrade the car with R$ then only the Curr.Gold.New.80x80.Shifted upgrades that give top speed and/or acceleration, leaving the grip and breaking upgrades (suspension and tires&wheels). (+2 Eng, Dri & Bod) ~PR80.0

(3332343)
2,117,400 400

This is the only car for Group C: Rotary Rampage, PR88.0 is required for 100% completion.
