Tips and FAQ History

This is the fourth iteration of a tips and FAQ page:

Each time the tips have improved. Unfortunately due to the way forum posts and blogs work, only the originator RR3 Michael P or Guillejarque can edit the first entry. With Tips and FAQ for Road To Le Mans anyone can edit this page, hopefully this will lead to many more editors adding useful content for everyone’s benefit.

General Tips

Strategy

Real Racing 3 is a massive game designed my FireMonkeys (FM) to make you want to spend real money on R$ and Icon Gold. Many in this Wikia community have posted comments what they have managed to reach the end of the game without spending any real money. The bottle neck currency is Icon Gold. Read this article on strategy for more information:

Time Shifted Multiplayer (TSM)

Read the following about how the time shifted multiplayer affects the AI of the bots, why it's important to win by small margins

and how to slow bots down:

Methods to slow bots down

Track Recommended method to slow bots Damage Taken
Autocross Each time you run an Autocross event, set a slow time of of 4th or less, either retry or continue and re-enter. If you retry ignore the bot's names, that splash up before the race, they will be changed at the end of the race, you will notice, after each time of running, the target time is increased. If continuing doesn't increase the bot's time try repeating and vice a versa.

Do not set a low time at the line, tilt B will give better control to coast before the line, if you are too quick or brake and wait at the line, smashing the time will increase the AI.
Minimal
Cup
& NASCAR
As soon as the race starts, pause, retire, confirm, either retry or continue and re-enter, if you retry ignore the bot's names, that splash up before the race, they will be changed at the end of the race. Also ignore the bots times on the final screen too, they are based on an average lap time, as you quit their times are based on a standing start, as an average. Instead use the times as a guide, with each retry or continue the bots times should increase. If continuing doesn't lower the bot's time try repeating and vice a versa.

OR If you have a broken car run the race a few times, each time you lose you will still get R$ and Fame, place 4th or less, repeating or continuing and re-entering will lower the bot's.

Once ready to go, get to 1st place as quickly as possible and try to slow the bot's down, either spin them out or park in sharp bends / chicanes and stop them passing. By setting a low time, but still coming first, it's still possible to still lower the AI of bots, think about a Time Trial time, if you set a set a slow time it lowers the AI.
Minimal /None.
Drag Race Start the race, press go and leave the car is first gear, do not click repeat, as this will repeat the current race, against the same bot, instead choose continue, then either retry or continue and re-enter. You will see the opponents will change to lower ones.

Once ready to go, don't undo the lowing work by setting a fast time, instead use the gears to slow the car, once passed the bot go up through the gears, but watch the bot doesn't speed up / close the gap, or if close to the line go down a gear to brake.
Minimal
Elimination Elimination events are one of the best opportunities to lower the bots AI, deliberately lose a few times, do not move at the start (Tilt B), wait for the 20 second timer to run out, then repeat or continue and re-enter. You will see the opponent will change to lower ones. If you retry ignore the bot's names, that splash up before the race, they will be changed at the end of the race.

Once ready to go, get to first place and slow the bots as per the cup event.
None
Endurance Endurance events are one of the best opportunities to lower the bots AI deliberately lose a few times, change the controls to Tilt B, when the lights go green do not move, wait for the timer to count down the 60 seconds. Either retry or continue and re-enter. If you retry ignore the bot's names, that splash up before the race, they will be changed at the end of the race. Note the distance is reducing each time. If continuing doesn't lower the bot's distance try repeating and vice a versa. It's possible to get all 7 bots distance to 1.0mi.

Another point, the online and offline bots can wildly vary on Endurance races, especially with fiends distance'. It's normally much better to race Endurance races offline, before going to the Endurance event go offline (aeroplane mode), if you've already started an Endurance race online, exit back to the main menu, if your logged into FB / G+ / Weibo, goto settings and logout, then force close, go offline and relaunch RR3, bots should now be offline ones.

Once ready to go, don't undo the lowing work by setting a good distance, instead once passed the 1st marker, park up (tilt B) and wait for the timer to count down.
None
Head To Head As soon as the race starts, pause, retire, confirm, either retry or continue and re-enter. Repeat multiple times, ignore the bot's time on the final screen, it is based on an average lap time, you can use it as a guide that the bot's time is reducing.

Once ready to go, don't undo the lowing work by setting a good time, instead once in 1st place, use the same technique as cup events, slow the bot down. Quite often a single bot will not push you once stopped, so you can easily hold it up for 20 seconds, then go for it. Wait at the line to reduced the time set, but still win.
1 lap of damage /None
Hunter As soon as the race starts, pause, retire, confirm, either retry or continue and re-enter, repeat multiple times, each time you repeat the distance to the 1st place will increase.

Once ready to go, don't undo the lowing work by setting a good distance, instead once passed the 1st place marker, slow down and maintain a small distance advantage ahead, when near the line slow to reduce the distance, but still win. It's also possible to spin out the NISSAN SILVIA (S15) to reach 1st, but be careful not to set a top distance. Final point, the NISSAN SILVIA (S15) can be on a different section as track from you, e.g. If 1st place marker is 1,000 yds behind. The NISSAN SILVIA (S15) could be going flat out down a straight while you’re in a hairpin or chicane, so the 1st place marker is going 1,000 yds behind the NISSAN SILVIA (S15), but travels at the same speed so doesn't slow for the chicane! The worst tracks have chicanes before the finish line, like Spa or Le Mans, learn from any losses, track knowledge will help in future events, sometimes waiting by the line is better, but be aware your stopped and 1st place marker could be going 120 MPH.
1 lap of damage /None
Time Trial Set a slow time, in a series this event's cup does not count towards continuing your race career (i.e. it does not unlock the next series). However it does count towards completing 100% of the Series.

Running a time trial with a broken car will therefore take no damage and lower the AI of bots.

Note: If you play against friends do not be tempted to upgrade your car and set faster times, as this will increase the AI of bots, you could always do this once you've bought all cars :)
1 lap of damage /None
Speed Record As soon as the race starts, pause, retire, confirm, either retry or continue and re-enter. Note the bot's time is reducing. If continuing doesn't lower the bot's speed try repeating and vice a versa.

Another method is to finish the race but place 8th with a very low speed. Then continue and re-enter the race. This lowers the car's condition slightly but can be repeated until bot speeds are lowered enough to win. Works in offline mode.

Once ready to go, don't undo the lowing work by setting a high top speed, brake as soon as you hit 1st place's speed.

If your still struggling to reach first place, the start finish straight is normally the longest straight, you can do a U turn and drive the wrong way around the track, so once around the last turn, do another U turn, and blast down the straight, with all assists off, it doesn't matter if you fly off track at turn one. If the start/finish straight isn't the longest you can still use the no assists method to hit the top speed, again it doesn't matter if you fly off track. However once you reach 1st place brake, so you don't increase the AI of bots. In special events challenges there is quite often a no off track clause to stop this technique, forcing you to upgrade to hit the required speed.

Minimal /None
Speed Snap Speed Snaps are the same "parts of tracks" as Autocross, except you must hit a top speed at the line so set a top speed of 4th or less, the lower the better, then either retry or continue and re-enter. Note the top speed's are reducing each time. If continuing doesn't lower the bot's speed try repeating and vice a versa.

Once ready to go, do not set a high top speed at the line, tilt B will give better control to feather the throttle once at the 1st place' speed, this takes a bit of practice, smashing the top speed will increase the AI.

The player has 7 days to complete the 7 stages, the event is 7 days x 24 hours. The first stage will start the time the player starts it, the last stage will end 7 x 24 hours later. As stage 01 is normally straight forward and can be completed without an upgrade or service, it can be started late in the day, it doesn't matter if stage 01 isn't completed the first day, it can continue the following day. Each player needs to choose the best time to start Asterion's Charge event, or more importantly when is the best time to end the event!

RR3 Michael P wrote (pre-race tip):
I wouldn't recommend starting the event on the first day, Monday 5th Oct, as many racers, who start as soon as the event opens, complain about bugs, which FM then fix! Instead leave the start a day or two and let other people do the bug testing. Also the tips and details can be filled in by the early adopters, so starting a day or two later gives a better heads up.

Ideally, for racers who are busy Monday to Friday and have the weekend free, the best day and time to start is as late as possible Sunday, as long as it's before midnight, meaning the end of the event is the following Sat/Sun. Unfortunately there maybe a short time to start this event! It maybe only open for one or two weeks, as the next release is expected mid Oct. Keep an eye out for adverts to start the event and watch for a countdown to start. Once started the event can be run, even if it's closed to new racers.

Cloud Save / Restore

See the Firemonkeys website for full details on cloud save:

Firemonkeys.com.au Cloud Save FAQ

Firemonkey wrote:
Real Racing 3 automatically uploads your save data to the Cloud Servers once every 12 Hours. This means that if you have lost your save data, you can easily restore yourprevious game progress (including your purchases) and also transfer this save data between devices using the Cloud Save feature.

During events you can use the Cloud Save and Restore feature to your advantage. Before you start every event, manually do a Cloud Save, if you loose do a cloud restore, this will save a long service after the longer, endurance, cup and NASCAR events.

Once you win do another cloud save before you continue the next event, see the FAQ on Firemonkey's website:

Cloud Save - How to Backup your save to the Cloud] It is very important to wait for the screen to display last updated seconds (or minutes) ago. If you have a message stating backup failed, wait another minute, a wheel will turn in the bottom right corner, the message will show last updated seconds (or minutes) ago and Backup to Cloud button will be greyed out too.If backup still failed, return to the login screen, log off, wait 10 seconds and log on once more, click continue, wait 30 seconds for the login to complete, then try to backup once more.

If you still have problems: log off, then turn aeroplane mode on, wait 10 seconds, turn aeroplane mode off, wait 30 seconds for the wifi to reconnect, login, click continue, wait 30 seconds for the login to complete, then try to backup once more. The final thing to try, force close the RR3 app, then with the Wifi on, relaunch RR3, then try to backup once more. If this still doesn't work, the FM server is probably having problems, again.

You can also use this technique to save on spending with gold, for example if you want to spend 1 gold on the mechanic, if you win, the mechanic will be used and the car condition will be maintained, but if you don't come first the gold is lost and the car condition will be reduced, if you cloud restore the car will be returned to it previous state and the gold spend (or even free mechanic) returned.

Note: Before you cloud restore, it is important to login into the same Social Profiles you had previously connected to Real Racing, when cloud saving, especially if multiple Social Profiles are used!

FAQ

Car Service

How can I service the car when I already finished the day?

If you missed servicing your car after the final event on the day, the soonest you can service the car is at midnight.

The Target is too High, How do I Reduce it?

When the speed or time or distance is too high or fast or long, there are several things that can be done to reduce the target

Make sure you cloud save before you start and after a handful of failed attempts try a cloud restore and retry the next method. Sometimes the AI is still reduced after the restore.

  • Try offline - if you've been online, you must do a force close too.
  • Try online - sometimes the AI target is different.
  • Try repeat, repeat , repeat, again loose by a big margin, don't come higher than 4th.
  • Try loosing by a big margin, but don't retry, instead complete and then re-enter the race - this takes more time but works.

Sorry this takes so much time, but the AI will reduce. With a cloud restore it's quicker than a long service!

For example, I tried 11 times to reach 1st place:

The Game / Le Mans Keeps crashing

  • If you are having problems loading Le-Mans: Le Mans is the biggest data track to load, close the game, go off line (aeroplane mode), try a complete showdown (hold the power for 10 seconds, I think), then start back up, launch the game and turn the Heads-up Display (HUD) off. This helps on my Hudl.
I read a post suggesting using the RR3 Graphics app (AKA RR3 GFX) available from the Google Play Store, (then automatically updating it from their website). The poster advised Le Mans used to crash, but when the graphics is set low, using this app, it loads and plays fine. Anyway, it doesn't seem to be any race in Le Mans during Road To Le Mans.
App source: RR3 graphics: This app lets you set a desired video graphics quality for RR3 game.

When is the last time I can start this Event?

The exact date is unknown, normally 2 weeks from Mon 5-Oct, however as the car can be purchased from Tue 13-Oct it may only be one week!

Following FM's recent pattern of 6 weekly updates, the next update is expected mid October. Once the update is released this event can not be started.

Guillejarque wrote:

Update comes 20th October, or 19th very late. I feel the last day to enter the event will be 12th or 11th of October.

RR3 Michael P wrote:
The countdown to start the event displayed as soon as it was open, 8 days from Mon 5-Oct, puts it 11th or 12th, as with the days remaining counter, there is a rounding factor included, aim for before 11th just in case. When the countdown changes to hours remaining, we will know more. As long as the event is started the 7 stages can be run. The next version will follow soon after.

Will this event be added to the Series?

My best guess is The 500 will be the next one to be added to the series, although no old chalanges have been added to the career for serveral upgrades, so FM are breaking their recent pattern of adding challenges to the series. Have a look at the the special events at the bottom of RR3 Wiki:Most Profitable Races Special Events and compare how many have been added to the Series and Special Events to see for yourself.

It maybe months before this event is added to a series, again this is a fairly recent pattern from FM of added past events to series, after three to six months. The only ones who know are the developers at FireMonkeys.

Will the car be available to win in the future?

The Lamborghini Asterion LPI 910-4 is available to win if the challenge is completed in 7 days, after 13-Oct the Lamborghini Asterion LPI 910-4 can be purchased.

Can I buy the car?

The Lamborghini Asterion LPI 910-4 is available in the Hybrid Hypercar Clash and Concept Car Clash Series in the Legend Series.

What is the minimum PR / upgrades required

RR3 Michael P wrote (pre-race tip):
My recommendation is to start the upgrades as soon as the challenge start, there is no need to wait for them to complete before doing continuing the events. As soon as level 1 upgrades are complete start level 2 upgrades. Normally only R$ upgrades are required, as long as you slow the bots, see Time Shifted Multiplayer and methods to slow bots down

Stage 01

Tips about Asterion's Charge Stage 01:

Vamsi P. - All 3 events at dubai-club grand prix and international circuits. First a cup, autocross and elimination events pretty straight forward. Then time trail event. go slowly. Last at international circuit 5 laps and had to over take 21 opponents. Was easy at last. If not sure just retire and timer will slow down. Just dont brake late or u will skid. I took more than 1000 meters distance from turnipage every lap and by end of 4 laps had overtaken all. just cruised to end. Last date given 8 days from 5 oct. first upgrades taken.

Guillejarque wrote:

I will wait until third stage to start with this event. First stage events seem so easy, and second and third ones seem to be easy too. So easy that you can do them slowing down the bots, that's the trick. You win so much time there.

To keep the bots slow on 1.3 let everyone unlap themselves before you cross the finish line. The 2nd place car will be 5,000 yards and 2 minutes behind you so you don't want that to carry over to the next round. No upgrades necessary and it pays 5 vCard.

Vamsi P reply:
but if u unlap u will lose, i tried it only to see number come down

Gold Crazed1115 reply:
if you lap all of them, the number stays the same and you can win with only 20m between you and opponent. It works, I passed the goal.

Completed second level. Tilt B, Brakes low TC on, steering high. In first was 2.37 in first lap against 2.40 and came first. If anyone else trying to come first u can take mechanic. 1 and 4 are running starts. 2 and 3 are standing starts. In second, was to first place in few seconds and from there went on to get 200 kmph speed and braked at end, still it was 180+, but bot was nearing so finished it, not to worry about slowing them, coz next endurance lost couple of times, go extra smoothly into corners, especially in down sloping turns and u will not skid. 4th was tricky and finished in 3rd try. first 2 I banged other cars and damagedinfirst corners itself. As no servicing was there, no need to worry and went again, finally was very careful at first 2 corners, i.e final chicane and first corner and then when i went past those corners i was able to do it. take 1 car at a time and go there, there is time enough. And did anyone see how interior of asterion was, I thought it was like pencil drawing or something like that.

The most difficult turn is the first one, Bus Stop. As it's a rolling start, you can try to move on some cars around this chicane. Then it comes Le Source, where trying a dive-in move is risky; however, you can overtake two cars if you do it well. Next, Eau Rouge brings a good challenge to the drivers. Bots drive slow around the interior, so you have to take the risk, overtake by the outside over the first little uphill turn and then get the inside.

U can slow bots in elimination afterwards, first win cup. thid event come to first place mine was unserviced so took second lap to go there but if service is there then can jump to first place in first corner by going offtrack and pitting other cars, easy peesy. fourth also pretty straight forward and go to sixth and cruise to end. to be frank it is no fun to go slowly behind other cars, but it is necessary so do that. The first car was blocked and hit my side/rear, the time started counting, and my last job was to avoid the car from passing me for 10 seconds.

It had to be done in the first lap because the first car was way too fast and because I only had three green bars remaining for the engine. These road-cuttings and bumps made the first red bar gone, but it was still good enough to be in the second place in stage 3.4.

Finished stage 4, and simple as tough it is. event one is easy and just touched the brake twice to slow top speed and others caught up in straight and no worries overtook at first corner. Monza is tricky to slow down at finish line as others are fast,so be careful. next speed record i had 297 kmph as target, weird as I slowed bots in stage 3. 288kmph was all i got in legal try, and even if I retried target didnt come down. brake assist off and U turn and in initial straight got 299.1 kmph against 297.6 and banged the barricades. others were easy. Just be offline and bots will cool with retrying i think, i was online. drag race if u find it difficult we see that asterion lags in loading and is fast in 3rd gear. so dont wait for perfect shift and upshift there. In fourth I was 191 kmph by end and slowed to 190 kmph and won pretty straight forward, but in monza road becomes narrower at some corners and be careful not to crash into others. go slow at first and overtake cleanly by end of first lap and then go full throttle after reaching first place. Last one was head to head and pretty straight forward with unserviced car was 500+ meters ahead slowed down to 20 m by end and won it. be careful while slowing down. My advice to all is be offline to slow down bots especially speed record. If u too have 297 u have to do like me. only in offline slowing down quickly is possible. In 2 and 3 stages mechanic is optiional, but here must if u have to complete in single service take him for first race and win.

Stage 07

Tips about Asterion's Charge Stage 07:

Continue to follow methods to slow bots down

Finished last stage in one service with retiring often. First was TT and did it slowly coz first I was too slow i could crawl to finish. Second was this steering event and I had modesto Lingerfelter 7m 44 secs and i retired, retried and 2,3 times it didnt changge. then bots came down quickly. Just retire at start and save service dont move after 10-12 retires and retry it came down to pungent sauce approx 9m 40 secs- 2 mins down. then i took auto mechanic free and went on and I didnt see much of steering difference, with high steering assist can do it. was very cautious at turns and by end of 2 laps was in lead. be careful dubai is devious, turns seem to be u turns but need lot of braking, after all hardwork just a slip at corner would mean fail. auto cross and record, in record no brake assist and small straight, trick is that u should brake perfectly into first corner, a little bit more brakes will also not matter and accelerate out of corner one perfectly and i got 241 like that against 237. autocross also did good corners and won by whisker. 101mph was achieved in first lap itself and with unserviced car also u can do it coz there r 6 laps, avg will go up in every lap.finally 4 cars only but i had richie rich and raven so retired and reried to race to a glorious victory!!! Finally one thing here if all has observed carefully the bots are high, in offline u can see names also. I slowed bots but they were there. I think they were prefixed there. make sure to cloud save aftter winning car. sometimes u will loose all last session of play. All events done with low brakes high steering TC on, except speed records and only once had to retry again the spa 2.4 event.

Event 7.1: Time Trial at Dubai Autodrome - International Circuit [1 lap] - Improve on your previous time

RR3 Michael P wrote (pre-race tip):
7.1 This time trial you can set a fast time, although setting any time that is faster than your previous time counts, keep it on the black stuff to keep a good condition car.

Event 7.2: Cup at Dubai Autodrome - Grand Prix Circuit [4 laps] - Win this race with damaged steering and without going off-track

RR3 Michael P wrote (pre-race tip):
7.2 Something has gone wrong! Our Asterion's steering is shot. Win this race, and be mindful of the damaged steering. Sounds like a difficult event, in the 500 turning the volume up to listen for the stearing warning noise helped, lifting or braking may help keep the car on track.

I found stage 7.2 to be impossible because it is hard to catch up to the front because your opponents will fly ahead as if they are powered by rocket fuel and the damaged steering didn't help either. I managed the steering, but it's the opposition that had me frustrated. The best I could make is seventh place before I gave up because the opponents are so unforgiving.

66.87.149.25 Reply:
If you find 7.2 too hard, pay the 40 gold and skip. Cheaper than paying 550 gold later on.

Just keep entering and retiring until the bots slow down to 9 minutes, then it's easy.

7.2. This is a tough race. The bots are more aggressive and will happily put you off track if you get in a tangle. They also hug the curves, so slipping down the inside is not often an option. You have to go around the outside only to be overtaken on the straights! I spun a few bots out as the came back past. I couldn't win this race first up against merrygold. I then raced a few more times with an unserviced car to bring the bot times down. Here's what happened.

2nd race. Sparx 7.10

3rd race. PerturB 7.21

4th race. oooo! 7.31

5th race. JKR 7.38

6th race. The Brioche 7.52

7th race. HeAt 8.00

I won the 7th race vs HeAt in 7.53 with an unserviced car. I figured I'd spend the time racing rather than waiting 4 hrs for the car to service. I went on to finish stage 7 with an unserviced car, which was quite easy relative to this race.

Anyone having problems with 7.2 I would highly recommend the Youtube video by User:SiCK-GamER1, with 11 upgrades (10R$ + 1 gold upgrade on drivetrain (35 gold) !:

See my report below for how I completed 7.2 with 9 R$ only upgrades.

Event 7.3: Win these events

RR3 Michael P wrote (pre-race tip):
Endurance events and Elimination events are particularly good to slow the bot's down for future events, next best are Drag Race events, Autocross events and Speed Snap events, see methods to slow bots down.

Event 7.4: Cup at Dubai Autodrome - National Circuit [6 laps] - Finish any lap with an average speed of 101mph (161kmph)

RR3 Michael P wrote (pre-race tip):
7.4 Like 2.2 and 4.4 if the average is higher, as the line is approached, slow down to win by a lower margin, but still win.

Aklracer wrote:
7.4 Took me 3 laps with an unserviced car. Probably can be done in the first lap if you don't hit the bots!

Event 7.5: Cup at Dubai Autodrome - National Circuit [8 laps] - Win this event

RR3 Michael P wrote (pre-race tip):
7.4 Must be a cup, Asterion vs LaFerrari, P1 and 918 Spyder. Enjoy the finale! Win by as big a margin you can, lap the field if you want, go for it :)

Aklracer wrote:
7.5 There are only 4 of you in this race, you and 3 opponents. Won this at the first attempt with an unserviced car. While the opponents blew me away off the line, I was passing them after a few turns. Once in the lead I steadily pulled away each lap, out to a lead of around 1000m during the 8th lap. 1st Aklracer (me) 9.50, 2nd jojo 10.09, 3rd drolted 10.11, 4th PerturB 10.12.
