  • Hey Sir. There is a ghost with your name still roaming these halls.

  • Sad to see you go. You and Michael seem to be the ones with the best info

    • Don't worry, the current admins and contributors have access to the same information and are just as good at posting it. Nothing will change once I stop posting.

  • Hi Dave,

    I hope you’re well.

I was looking at the above’s templates as I wanted to understand something and I noticed a few things ...

    • Given that the $group variables are static would it not be more efficient if they were only defined once i.e. in the header template?
    • The same applies to the $prev variables AND wouldnt it be better (just in case they change and to avoid typos) if (apart from $prevA) they were defined as the value of the previous $group variable?
    • What does {{#expr:A|0}} do? Obviously I know what it does! I’m referring to the 0 part.
    • Clever use of dynamic variable names, {{#var:$group{{{5}}}}}, I had never considered that.

    Best wishes,

    Nick

    • Ah you are talking about R/TT not R/WTTT (as your title suggests). R/TT is a copy of R/WTTT. T/WTTT is different because it has to calculate the group percentages where A = 0.1% rather than 1%.

It might be useful to show the events with multiple cars but the purpose of the table is to calculate the participation of an event. It is useful to know if different cars can be used as sometimes I use it to gauge how many people have a certain car (which is only valid if it's the only car that can run that event). The cars aren't that important otherwise.

    • Sorry, the conversation was meant to be about the RR3 Wiki:Time Trial Participation page, guess I used the wrong title name!

  • Hey. I went back and read through the post. Technically the topic of device modification was first brought up in Thread:216137#30. That prompted two responses. So DH, what is it with people with the initials DH on this site, your surname doesn't begin with H does it, had a point about who tends to mention these things, amorphously, but mention them first, none the less. And the reason it likely hasn't been closed is because they saw an increase in revenue because of it. If the Gauntlet can ignore a regular cloud restore, I am sure another part of the game could be programmed to remember a certain piece of data provided by the device and when the next time it sees that data, it doesn't correspond, it could lock that feature for the day.

    • I'm sorry, you've completely lost me. No idea what you are talking about but you clearly think I've done something wrong. Can't say I'm particularly impressed with you comparing me to DH though. Whatever your problem is, I can't say that helps me care about it.

The first thread in the post to mention time shifting was yours. I don't agree with most of what DH said, but he had a point about you bring that particular thing up first. Then you admonish people not to discuss these things, but you are broaching the subject in the first place.

    • I've never mentioned what the exploit was and personally, I couldn't give a scubbie what's put your nose out of joint.

    • Ah! Having said that, I think I've spotted the issue. I was referring ro the post above yours. Chill, wasn't aimed at you

  • Hey Sirebel. Your post on "all races B and overall C" up yet?

BTW nice to know you are still (very much) around.

    • I started writing it up last night. Will post something later hopefully. I might steal your title though, it's better than mine :-D

  • Hi Sirebel, I just noticed the change you made and I can tell you it's the same thing with the Ferrari 488 GTO. I know that because I upgraded the Ferrari to PR90 instead a long time ago and the upgrades needed to achieve the required PR also are 4625262 (-2 Engine, -1 Suspension).
I was afraid to make the change myself at the time but now that I'm not the only one who noticed the error, could you please confirm it and make the fix if needed.

    Cheers

  • Please see http://rr3.wikia.com/wiki/User:QuickNick/Sandbox14p and let me know what you think, especially the Series PR and Upgrade Order section. This effectively addresses your "holistic approach" comment from a couple months back AND seems to bring my strategy more in-line with yours e.g. Lamborghini Asterion. I would appreciate your comments/feedback. Thanks.

P.S. I also incorporated my work on improving the upgrade PR values which I will be applying to all new cars, unfortunately I can't do it to older (pre 5.3) cars as I need non-upgraded cars on which to run my tests.

  • Hi Dave,

I don't know if you're still (slightly) interested in this?

I wanted to have another stab at the PR upgrade values ... to see if I could improve my Upgrade Strategy to allow for rounding issues.

I took one car, the Ford Falcon FG X (2017) and tried different upgrade strategies ...

    • Cumulative upgrades startng with Engine, doing all upgrades, then moving to the next Type (i.e. Drivetrain) and so on until all upgrades done.
    • Applying all upgrades for a Type starting with no upgrades. Repeat for for each Type.
    • Mixing it up! Do the first upgrade for each Type starting with Engine and ending with Tires & Wheels, then repeat with the second upgrade etc etc.

I recorded all the PR-From/To values and it shows that the (displayed) Upgrade PR really does depend on the upgrades already applied ... I'm guessing because the car's base PR and the upgrades' PR have more than one decimal place but the displayed values are rounded. This obviously raises a question about the values on the Classic Upgrades pages!

Would you be interested in seeing the spreadsheet?

  • I just read your farewell post on the Wall Of Remembrance, and wanted to drop you a line to say goodbye. I'm grateful for your efforts as an admin of this wiki, and also just for your general contributions - these have often been valuable to me, almost exclusively have been informative, and have always been interesting.

I am also sorry for the heat you were copping - particularly over the last couple of months. It was undeserved, and I regret not calling this out directly, rather than my lame attempts at just getting people back on-topic.

    Thank you Dave, and Hoo-Roo!

    • Cheers but I'm just a player like you though. I can cope with the heat of a few disgruntled people though I was disappointed they couldn't articulate their concerns better so we could get more constructive feedback. However, as was said at the time, sh*tstorms blow over eventually.
