  • Please see http://rr3.wikia.com/wiki/User:QuickNick/Sandbox14p and let me know what you think, especially the Series PR and Upgrade Order section. This effectively addresses your "holistic approach" comment from a couple months back AND seems to bring my strategy more in-line with yours e.g. Lamborghini Asterion. I would appreciate your comments/feedback. Thanks.

P.S. I also incorporated my work on improving the upgrade PR values which I will be applying to all new cars, unfortunately I can't do it to older (pre 5.3) cars as I need non-upgraded cars on which to run my tests.

  • Hi Dave,

I don't know if you're still (slightly) interested in this?

I wanted to have another stab at the PR upgrade values ... to see if I could improve my Upgrade Strategy to allow for rounding issues.

I took one car, the Ford Falcon FG X (2017) and tried different upgrade strategies ...

    • Cumulative upgrades startng with Engine, doing all upgrades, then moving to the next Type (i.e. Drivetrain) and so on until all upgrades done.
    • Applying all upgrades for a Type starting with no upgrades. Repeat for for each Type.
    • Mixing it up! Do the first upgrade for each Type starting with Engine and ending with Tires & Wheels, then repeat with the second upgrade etc etc.

I recorded all the PR-From/To values and it shows that the (displayed) Upgrade PR really does depend on the upgrades already applied ... I'm guessing because the car's base PR and the upgrades' PR have more than one decimal place but the displayed values are rounded. This obviously raises a question about the values on the Classic Upgrades pages!

Would you be interested in seeing the spreadsheet?

  • I just read your farewell post on the Wall Of Remembrance, and wanted to drop you a line to say goodbye. I'm grateful for your efforts as an admin of this wiki, and also just for your general contributions - these have often been valuable to me, almost exclusively have been informative, and have always been interesting.

I am also sorry for the heat you were copping - particularly over the last couple of months. It was undeserved, and I regret not calling this out directly, rather than my lame attempts at just getting people back on-topic.

    Thank you Dave, and Hoo-Roo!

    • Cheers but I'm just a player like you though. I can cope with the heat of a few disgruntled people though I was disappointed they couldn't articulate their concerns better so we could get more constructive feedback. However, as was said at the time, sh*tstorms blow over eventually.

  • Hey Dave,

This is Caitlin from EA Playtesting -- we run RR3 playtests and other related playtesting events. How it works is you come into a studio, play some games, give feedback on your experience then get cool rewards before you head home! We're looking for more RR3 fans to give feedback and thought some folks here would be interested. Please reach out to me at cpollard@ea.com so we can chat :)

I would like to come up with this kind of statement once in a while.

    • Sadly, this is off a tshirt advert on my facebook but I felt it summed up how I felt a few weeks ago. Happily things have calmed down a bit now.

  • Hi!

I have one suspicion about this situation, but it's have back story. When i lost 50 GC first time (i don't know the reason, but symptom was same - no TT window), i decided to focus on getting it next time for sure. So, i made backup in iTunes before Time Trial end and it's worked. At the same time inside my team was discovered... well... since it's open channel, let's call it "WTTT gold loop". Useing it i recovered my lost 50 GC first time.

Now, when i thinking about it... May system think today, that i am already received reward, but week ago? is it even possible?

Since your are iT specialist, maybe your may confirm or overturn this suspicion.

P.S. Testing it and confirming may take 2 weeks.

  • Hi Dave,

There seems to be a problem with the historical data/edits in December/November 2016, specifically ...

    • There is no entry for the week ending 12-Dec-2016.
    • For a couple of earlier entries there are entries for Richmond and Nurburgring which don't fully correspond with the previous/next weeks.

I know the WTTT was offline for a while so maybe this is something to do with that but it still doesn't fully add up.

Do you have your WTTT results history for all of December/November 2016?

    Thanks,

    Nick

  • Not sure where to go with my question...I picked you this time.

I updated Project Impulse (v5.5.0) on Sept. 10th with updates for v5.5.0 - quotes, R$, fame, etc. In game, after mention of the Maserati Granturismo MC Stradale, we are told that we will also be competing against it's limited race-spec edition. However, after running 5.6 I went to the 2nd page of the results page and found that all three of the opponents were driving the regular edition. My update removed the Limited edition as an opponent vehicle as well as added 5.6 to the list of races against the regular edition.

Today (11th), User:DecadeHansen changed it back. Although the words indicate that we race the limited edition, I do have evidence that we don't actually face off against it. First question - can I 'undo' her change from the history menu without undoing all changes that were done AFTER that change? Second - is there a way to stop other users from changing this section, since the game text is very misleading and this event will be open for another month.

BTW - I don't fault DecadeHansen and am not upset, but I did keep my screenshot figuring this would happen.

    Thanks, Brad

    • Firstly, I don't know anyway to selectively undo updates. I think you can only roll back the updates one by one. I wouldn't recommend this unless you are sure they all need undoing. In this case it would be much simpler just to reapply your change. There is no way to lock sections of the wiki, we can only lock entire pages.

My suggestion would be to ask this question on the Project Impulse (v5.5.0) page to see if everyone is getting the standard edition and not the limited edition. If everyone says it is the standard edition then I'd just reapply your update. If one person gets a limited edition then I would suggest leaving it as it is.

  • Hi Dave,

As I was editing the Events tables for all of the new series it occurred to me that neither of us take into account the race rewards when calculating the series reward used to determine whether or not the series is profitable.

Apart from variable values (e.g. Endurance races) it should be easy enough to do.

Adding the R$ is simple though I think the CRB should be ignored as it depends on how well the player has driven!

Converting the Fame to Gold is slightly more tricky but could be calculated on an approximate ratio of 6500 Fame points per Gold coin.

    What do you tbink?

    • That's odd, for me the default is around 5.8 to 6.2 miles!

How does (an average) distance convert to the reward/lap figures shown on the Wiki ... by the way, I always found it odd that the rewards are shown per lap as they're more dependent on on-track mileage.

I'll hav a look into it and get back to you.

    • Hi Dave.

Ok, I had my first stab at what we discussed which involved a few other changes/improvements ...

      • I added functions to the Events sheet to calculate the R$-to-Fame ratio for each event, the average for all entries and a check for the number of entries which fall within 20% of the average (94%).
      • I added functions to the Upgrades sheet to calculate the R$-to-Gold ratio for each upgrade, the average for all entries which can be purchased for both R$ and Gold and a check for the number of entries which fall within 20% of the average (71%).
      • I added a global parameters file to my spreadsheet and a function to retrieve the specified parameter(s) or all of them AND included the above as parameters.
      • I changed the Wiki Strategy creation script to allow for the above.

This gave me a R$-to-Fame ratio of 5.1 and a R$-to-Gold ratio of 3660 which equates to about 720 Fame points per Gold coin ... which seems rather generous i.e. wrong!

I then used those values to convert the event Fame rewards to Gold and added them to the Series Gold rewards ... I also added the event R$ (but not the CRB) rewards.

I've just re-run the Wiki Strategy creation script and created a new page ... it actually makes quite a difference ...

I double-checked my calculations, they look correct!

I haven't (yet) allowed for non-specific rewards e.g. Endurance races.

Let me know what you think.

      Cheers,

      Nick

P.S. Having just re-read this post, I think the calculated ratio is wrong insomuch as it doesn't marry up with the Gold rewarded when levelling up which seems to be more like 5,000 Fame points per Gold coin! Let me know what you think.
